Teaching the Christian Worldview Worldwide

Why Is a Worldview Important?

"Whether we realize it or not, all of us possess a worldview. We make one of two basic assumptions. We view the universe as an accident or we assume an intelligence beyond the universe who gives the universe order, and for some of us, meaning to life. One's worldview, or how one answers the basic questions concerning meaning, values, purpose, identity, motivation and destiny, influences not only who we are, but how we live our lives" - Dr. Armand Nicholi, Harvard University professor and author of "The Question of God". "Know the truth and the truth shall set you free" - Jesus Christ.

The Christian Worldview:

What is the Christian Worldview? The Bible begins with the statement "In the beginning God". We believe that the infinite personal God of the Bible is ultimate reality, not mere matter or energy shaped by chance or mere natural selection. We believe that men and women were designed and created by this personal God in His image as personal beings with a capacity for reason, emotion, and volition … and as such human life has sanctity and eternal value. Consequently, we are ethically and morally accountable for our choices and actions, which have value, significance, meaning, and purpose in a universe which is not merely impersonal. We further believe that if there is a purely impersonal material universe there is no logical basis for morality, ethics, objective knowledge, significance, purpose, or human aspirations.

We communicate the Christian Worldview by “making disciples” in the context of a loving community through evangelism and discipleship. We believe that the unique message of Jesus Christ is consistent with objective reality. He provides the way to an authentic personal relationship with God, and with one another. He also gives us peace and purpose, in the midst of a world which has largely lost direction and hope.

Making Disciples:

"Go and make disciples of all nations. teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."(Matthew 28:19-20)

Spiritual Multiplication:

"And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." (2 Tim 2:2.)

The Cultural Mandate:

"Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." (Gen 1:28)

The Christian Worldview should impact every facet of life, both public and private, social, economic, political and personal. We believe and teach that God has appointed mankind as stewards of the Earth, and that we are responsible for the environment as well as the culture In which we live.

In Genesis, God gives what we might call the first job description:

"Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it." The first phrase, "be fruitful and multiply" means to develop the social world: build families, churches, schools, cities, governments, laws. The second phrase, "subdue the earth," means to harness the natural world: plant crops, build bridges, design computers, compose music. This passage is sometimes called the Cultural Mandate because it tells us that our original purpose was to create cultures, build civilizations-nothing less. Our calling is not just to go to heaven, but also to cultivate the earth, not just to save souls, but also to serve God through our work. For God himself is engaged not only in the work of salvation buts also in the work of preserving and developing His creation. When we obey the Cultural Mandate, we participate in the work of God himself, as agents of His common grace”. — Nancy Pearcey in “Total Truth”.

Evangelism and discipleship

Miami : Discipling young professionals and businessmen and women who in turn evangelize and disciple others (2 Timothy 2:2). Dave leads a culturally and racially diverse discipleship group of men and women. The method is personal, one-on-one appointments, Bible Studies, Discussion and Prayer Groups, Retreats and Seminars, Leadership Training, and Outreach Events. Most of the men and women whom Dave disciples are involved in BSF (Bible Study Fellowship).

USA : Dave disciples men in Miami and other cities such as Los Angeles, Dallas, New York City, and Chicago. These men join us on weekend retreats in FL and group outings to conferences. Dave is putting them through a reading and study curriculum and communicates through telephone, email and personal visits.

Europe : Dave also disciples a number of young businessmen and professionals in Munich and Frankfurt. Most of these men came to Christ while doing internships in Miami. Dave's training under the late Dr. Francis Schaeffer has been of immense value in ministering to Europeans. Dave also helps recruit new staff for Europe. One of the men he disciples formerly lived in Madrid and still has a ministry there, another has moved to Germany for full-time ministry. In addition Dave teaches at least one retreat every year in the Austrian Alps near Munich. He has also taught a retreat near Madrid, and ministers to others in Italy and the U.K.

Worldwide : Dave also acts as a resource person to other countries around the world in helping them to establish marketplace ministries of evangelism and discipleship in their cities. He has helped in this regard in the Caribbean, South America and Africa.

Resource Development : Dave is in the process of testing and developing training materials in evangelism and discipleship suitable for reaching post-modern people and others with different worldviews.
